Android operating system comes with a variety of features and options which makes it more usable and customizable than any other mobile Operating System in the market so far. Google encourages developers to involve in the development activities and packed a lot of important tools under the Developer Options menu in the system Settings. Google has hidden these options from Android 4.2 Jellybean which can be easily enabled by a simple trick.
Since you’re reading this article, we’re assuming that you’ve already enabled the Developer Options on your Android device. However, we’re not perfectly sure why anyone would want to hide such powerful tools from the Settings menu. But we’ve got some convincing replies from many of the Android users that sometimes the device is messed up by accidentally enabling the options in the Developers Options menu. For instance, if you’ve accidentally clicked the Show surface updates option, your screen will go crazy with dancing bright colors.
We recommend that you gain knowledge on different options in the Developers Option so that you can be insightful of the beautiful tools provided for developers. You can follow the below link to get a brief idea of the useful options present in the Developer Options on Android.
If you’re still voting to hide the Developer Options on your Android device, you can simply follow the below workarounds.
Hide Developer Options on Android Devices
We are providing two options to hide the Developer Options on your Android device. The first one is simple and the preferable method but it might not work on some devices like the Samsung TouchWiz. The second method is the bullet-proof method but you have to lose the entire data on your device. Here we go:
Method 1: Clear Settings Cache
- Navigate to Settings » Apps on your device and tap on the All tab to get the list of all apps.
- Find the Settings app and open it
- Now tap on the Clear Data to clear the data of your Settings app.
- Settings app will automatically close, so don’t panic.
Now open the Settings app again and check whether the Developer Options has disappeared or still persistent. Follow the next method if this doesn’t work for you.
Method 2: Factory Data Reset
We are not sure if anyone would really go for this method and put the entire data on the device at stake just to disable a single menu. If you’re still determined to get rid of the Developer Options from your device, here we go:
- Open the Settings app and click on the Backup and reset menu.
- Select the Factory data reset option from the menu.
- Finally confirm saying goodbye to your data by clicking on the Reset device button.
This will surely hide the Developer Options from the Settings app but we recommend not to do a complete factory reset of your device unless you have a strong reason to get rid of this menu.
