With the advent of the Android smartphones, our lifestyle has changed drastically. Moreover the increased smartphone addiction is encouraging many developers to design user-friendly apps. One of the most basic operation we perform on our smartphone is to lock and unlock the device. The usual way of doing this is by using the hardware keys on your device and few other devices offer double-tap-to-wake and other options. Excessive use of hardware buttons might damage them and moreover there are many sensors in your device that can do the same task.
A horde of sensors like gravity sensor, proximity sensor, gyroscope, compass etc are available in the Android devices. By using a combo of these sensors, you can do some awesome tricks on your smartphone. Well, Gravity screen is a one of the best apps which uses Gravity sensor to use the device in a smarter way. Gravity Screen is designed to perform lock and unlock operations that work by setting the phone to lock and unlock when it’s picked up or put down face up or down, or put in a pocket.
It’s an endlessly customizable app, and can also be programmed to stop dimming with a shake or wake up when it detects motion. Here are the features of Gravity screen app:
1. Pocket Sensor:
It’s called pocket sensor because the screen gets off as soon as you put your phone in your pocket. Gravity Screen uses proximity sensor to provide this functionality. Once the proximity sensor is covered and device is inclined a certain angle, it assumes that the phone is in your pocket and immediately turns off the screen. And when you pull out your phone from the pocket and the proximity sensor is uncovered, it turns the screen back on.
There are only some situations when this feature can be a bit irritating than amusing when your device screen goes off even though it’s not in the pocket. But that’s usually rare as per my usage.
2. Table Sensor:
Gravity Screen will turn off the screen when it realizes that the phone is on a flat surface. You can decide whether you want it to turn off when it’s lying face up, or only when it’s face down. Provided the table sensor should be turned on.
3. Turn Screen ON by Motion:
Gravity screen uses motion sensor in this feature. Whenever there is no motion the screen will turn off and when there is movement or when the device lifted up, then the screen will turn on. There is also an option to limit the time as this feature uses more energy.
4. Keep Screen ON by Motion:
If you are impressed with the above smart features and if you want to explore more features than a paid app will be supportive.
