The Pixel smartphones are the Google new direction in the smartphone world. It’s the first time Google has ditched its Nexus lineup in the hope of bringing something more exciting. With the Pixel lineup, Google aims to control both software and hardware in a fitting reply to Apple’s iPhone. With the system dump of Google Pixel devices leaking earlier, we now have the Google Pixel apps with us. Not all the apps are working on other devices but some of the working smoothly.
The Google Pixel apps are extracted from the NDE63H build based on Android 7.1 Nougat. So, the apps work better on devices running Android Nougat. Although, some of the apps are tested working on Android Marshmallow devices as well. The Google Pixel apps include the official Google Pixel launcher, camera, and the revamped Google Keyboard app. The Wallpaper app brings the awesomeness of great wallpapers on your device. However, the Google Assistant is not yet working on non-Pixel devices.
We have installed some of the apps on our devices and they’re working great. Here are some of the Google Pixel apps that work on other devices.
- Pixel Wallpapers (WallpaperPickerGooglePrebuilt.apk): Install it as a normal APK and it works flawlessly on all our devices running on Nougat and Marshmallow as well.
- Google app (Velvet.apk): Working fine with a few glitches here and there.
- Photos (photos.apk)
- Project Fi (Tycho.apk)
- Music app
- Videos app
- Maps app
- Contacts
- Calculator
- Keyboard
